Mandolin player joins the bill for ‘Folk Night’ on Friday, 11th Nov.

paul-nancarrowPaul Nancarrow is joining the bill for the AAMF 2016 ‘Folk Night on Friday, 11th November at the Sands Club, Al Ain. Paul will be playing his mandolin alongside of Joan McEldowney. They will cover an Eddie Vedder song from the movie, “Into the Wild“; a Strumbellas’ song; and songs from Joan’s own album, “Storm“.

Formerly a lecturer at Queen’s University, Belfast, Paul is now an Associate Professor at the American University of Sharjah.

‘Mix, Mingle and Create’ on Friday, 4th November at the Sands Club

The AAMF 2016 ‘Mix, Mingle and Create‘ Workshop will run from 4 pm to 6 pm on Friday, 4th November at the Sands Club.

This workshop for budding painters is a new departure for the Al Ain Music Festival. Normally, of course, the focus is on live music events.
Hopefully, this ‘paint & sip’ session will add even more colour to the eclectic AAMF 2016 programme! Tickets cost AED. 150 and include two beverages.

Sounding Boards play opening set of AAMF 2015!

TheSoundingBoards2015The opening band for the AAMF 2015 will be Sounding Boards!

This band has been entertaining audiences in Al Ain for several years now with their own blend of rock music.

The Sounding Boards are:- David Frey – Vocals and Lead Guitar; David Connell – Bass; Danielle Bruckert – Cello; and Mark Campbell – Drums.

The Halloween Rock Night” is set for Friday, 30th October at the Sands Club.

Al Ain’s Desert Groove and the Sounding Boards are teaming up with singer and guitarist  Joan McEldowney at a benefit concert on Thursday, 4th June at the Sands Club.

Money raised will go to the ‘Nepalese New Mums Charity‘ –

so look out for the ‘Charity Drum Box’ and bang the drum!
