The AAMF 2017 “Acoustic Vibes!” showcases the talents of three singer/guitarists.
With her remarkable and unmistakable voice, Midian Almeida has performed on several TV shows in Brazil. And she has been bringing Brazilian music to the UAE since 2015. Samba, bossa nova, pop and rock are all in her repertoire.
Following concerts held at venues such as the Atlantis and Kempinski hotels in Dubai, and The Westin in Abu Dhabi, Midian is gradually building up a following in the UAE.
Joan McEldowney, from Northern Ireland, has been a resident in Al Ain since 2013. She is a teacher at the Al Aalya School in the Garden City. Joan was Director of the AAMF 2016.
Joan has played live on the BBC and on Sky TV. She has supported artists including Josh Ritter, the Hothouse Flowers, Radiohead and James Blunt.
Her own first solo album, “Storm”, was released in 2000. Recently she has been working on an EP called “Music and Moonlight”.
Singer songwriter Atlanta Frith has performed her original music, a blend of Blues, Jazz, Soul and Folk, in live music venues in Melbourne, Australia, and London, UK. She is now living in Al Ain.
Collaborative projects have seen her work with renowned Jazz and Classical Australian musicians Nick Tsiavos and Peter Neville on two cross-cultural recordings centred round the poetry of activist poet Abidya from Indonesia.
Atlanta Cecilia’s debut album ‘North’, draws upon her love of spoken word poetry.

Last year’s AAMF Director, Joan McEldowney, has informed us that she is stepping down from the role this year due to family commitments.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Joan for all of her great AAMF organisational efforts, and also for her own AAMF performances as a singer/guitarist!
We are now seeking a volunteer to take over the role of Director for an AAMF 2017.
Please note this position continues to be unpaid!

Here is an update message from AAMF Director, Joan McEldowney, concerning the ‘Reggae Night‘ event this Friday…
We regret that Natty Wailer and the Reggae Vibes can’t make it to the gig on time! We will go ahead with our Reggae dj under the stars and bring our community together. This is a new venue in a beautiful garden. The manager wants to offer his garden space to the expat community. He worked really hard for the performance license to be granted. All pre-paid ticket money for Natty will be refunded in full. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by this cancellation.
The revised price for entrance to the event will be 75% off at 50 dirhams. Food and drinks are available. This is still going to be great, the weather is so beautiful now. We have worked so hard for this festival to happen. We achieved 7 out of the 8 events. This disappointment came at the 11th hour. So sad and disappointed but the dj show will go on in the spirit of Bob Marley. Peace and love.
