AAMF 2017 UPDATE:-
After last Friday’s very enjoyable and well-attended “All About the Jazz!” concert at the Rotana Hotel’s Zest Garden, the Al Ain Music Festival 2017 concludes at the Danat Al Ain Resort Hotel’s Luce Restaurantthis Friday, 24th November.
The Chronicles of Khan rock band will be performing ‘unplugged’ in the Danat Hotel’s Luce Italian Restaurant from 8 pm. . However, as the Luce Italian Restaurant isn’t a very large venue, we recommend that fans of rock music should take their places earlier tomorrow evening.
This will be TheChronicles of Khan debut performance in Al Ain, after their recent performances at many large festivals in their home city of Dubai, and elsewhere within the region. Don’t miss out on this rare chance to hear them play live in Al Ain!
Earlier, from 6 pm. on Friday evening, about one hundred talented young musicians from a dozen local schools will be performing at the AAMF’s “Young Hands and Voices“ concert at the Al Ain Academy‘s auditorium in Al Sarooj District. This is the second edition of this concert, which builds upon a successful beginning at Al Qattara Arts Centre last November.
This concert’s organiser, Yaremi Ledesma Alvarez, has informed us that all of the auditorium’s seats, which had been available for this concert, have now been reserved. So, it’s going to be a very full house!
Finally, if you have any photos and/or video clips of AAMF events which you would like to share with us, please feel free to post them to us via Facebook Messenger or by emailing us at:- email@example.com .
Khan, the founder of the Chronicles of Khan band, talks about his music and the music scene in the U.A.E. in this short video.
He will be performing in the final AAMF 2017 concert this Friday , 24th November, at Luce Restaurant, Danat Al Ain Resort Hotel.
The Chronicles of Khan emerged onto the U.A.E. music scene as a collective of rock musicians…
A project that started out as an outlet for singer-songwriter Khan soon became a rock n roll band when his childhood friend, Sean Walters, took up the role of lead guitarist. The band slowly came together with the addition of Nick Arrieta on Drums; Shez Mo on Guitars; Joe on Bass; and finally Ross as the band’s Percussionist. Though several members changed in a short course of time, these 6 remained constant and were the basis of the bands trademark sound – which is best described as a blend of ‘generations of rock’, With influences ranging from Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, The Doors, Beatles to Nirvana, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Guns and Roses to Dave Mathews and the Foo Fighters.
Chronicles of Khan has played at festivals, such as the Middle East Film and the Comic Con, the Capital Vibes, the Beats on the Beach, the Sikka Fair, the Azadi Rocks Festival, and the Truck Jam U.A.E.. This band has also entertained crowds at Dubai’s regular live music venues; for example, The Music Room and the Stereo Arcade.
Their performances have been known to be dynamically full-blown rock n roll shows, full of on-stage energy, combining melodic guitar riffs with booming bass lines and animated drum rolls, which are fronted by husky and grungy vocals. On certain occasions, the boys will let their guard down and treat their audience to some deep cuts with more ‘MTV Unplugged-style’ concerts.
Chronicles of Khan recorded their E.P. in the summer of 2017 and are looking to officially release it very soon.
They describe themselves as a multi-nation rock band deeply rooted in the U.A.E., which is known to have people from various cultures, religions and traditions. The Chronicles themselves have had members originating from India, Pakistan, Philippines, Canada, Iran, Lebanon, England, Croatia, New Zealand and Australia, who are all proud to call U.A.E. their home turf.
We are delighted that they have agreed to perform at the AAMF 2017!
The Opening Night concert of the AAMF 2017 Schedule will be on Thursday, 26th October.
Al Ain’s own rock band, Desert Groove, have been confirmed for this first event. DG has been around in one form or another since 2009.
Desert Groove plays a mixture of classic rock, funk and pop. Its current four members bring together a wealth of diverse musical experience from various corners of the globe.
The current line-up includes the talented Lisa Cotturo on vocals. Lisa came to the UAE after signing in a variety of Las Vegas show bands, and her experience and professionalism gave the band a huge boost.
Scott Hawkins on lead guitar hails from Tennessee, and has played semi-professionally in the States in a number of touring bands. Scott is the driving force in the band.
The rhythm section is handled by Hungarian drummer, Zsolt, and Kiwi, David Wallace.
David is the only member of the original 2009 version of Desert Groove. Zsolt joined the band in 2013 and provides the solid back-beat.
“I really love the rock music’, Zsolt says, ‘when I get behind the kit, there’s nothing better for me than bashing out a huge classic rock song.”
