We are delighted that Joan McEldowney will be performing at an AAMF concert again!
Joan was born in South Derry, Northern Ireland, and now lives and works in Abu Dhabi city, after several years’ living and working in Al Ain.
She has played live on the BBC alongside of Neil Hannon of Divine Comedy; and played on Sky TV, too. And, she has supported groups and soloists including Josh Ritter, the Hothouse Flowers, Radiohead and James Blunt.
Taking over the role of Director for the Al Ain Music Festival 2016, Joan was responsible for organising an eclectic mix of successful events.
On Thursday, 31st January she will be singing and playing acoustic guitar at the AAMF ‘Acoustic Night‘. This free concert is being hosted by La Dolce Vita venue. The live music starts at 6 pm..
Ollie Chapman is in the listing of talented performers for the AAMF ‘Acoustic Night‘ on Thursday, 31st January. This Brighton College Al Ain student has performed at the LDV’s new monthly ‘Open Mic/Jam Sessions‘ and with the new BCAA Community Orchestra.
Born and raised in Yorkshire, England, 15-year-old Ollie Chapman now lives in Al Ain, where his musical talents keep him very busy. Ollie performs across the UAE and the UK in solo gigs as well as in collaborations. These include performing on the QE2, and with former X Factor UK contestant Stacey Camps, and her band ‘Urban Vibes’.
We are very pleased to announce that Manfred Malzahn will be making his debut AAMF performance during the ‘Acoustic Night‘ concert on Thursday, 31st January.
Manfred started playing guitar as a teenager and began to perform in German and British folk clubs in the early 1970s. He was a member of “2+1”, “Patchwork” and “Dreirad” in Germany, “High Ground” and “The Solan Company” in Scotland, “The Living Stones” in Malawi and “Free Association” in the UAE, where he has been living since 1998.
He started writing his own songs in the 1980s; some of his lyrics were set to music and recorded by the German bands “Distant Friends”, “Blind Summit” and “Puzzlepie”. He also wrote the libretto for a musical play that was staged in Germany in the mid-1990s.
Manfred will be performing on the AAMF ‘Acoustic Night‘ at La Dolce Vita venue on Thursday, 31st January at 6 pm. This concert is free of charge.
We are now looking forward to this Saturday’s AAMF ‘Young Hands & Voices‘ concert. Yaremi Alvarez, (photo), is organising this concert for the third time. Students and teachers of Al Ain International School AKA Al Dar Academies will be performing a varied Programme.
This year, in addition to our Al Ain student’s performances, we will have the opportunity to listen to a group of music students from Dubai Newlands school , participating in Al Ain for the first time.

The Brazilian singer and guitarist Midian Almeida has been living in Al Ain since 2015. Bossa nova, samba and jazz Brazil are her main styles of music. Midian sings in both Portuguese and English.
In the last 3 years, she has performed in some of the top venues in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. And, recently, Midian was the surprise guest on the last night of Arab Fashion Week, confirming the recognition and high standing she has been granted as a performer in the Emirates.

After the success of yesterday’s AAMF ‘Classical Evening‘ we are now looking forward to the AAMF ‘Young Hands & Voices‘ concert on Saturday, 26th January.
This concert will be organised by Yaremi Alvarez and hosted by La Dolce Vita venue. It starts at 6 pm., and, as usual, there is no charge for admission.
